Grace Elizabeth Anderson

Grace Elizabeth Anderson, 95, of Brookings, formerly of Salem, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at The Neighborhoods in Brookings, SD.  Funeral services will begin at 4 pm on Saturday, May 4 at Sun Prairie Baptist Church, rural Salem.  Visitation with family present will begin at 3:00.  Burial will follow the service at Ramsey Baptist Cemetery, rural Montrose.

Grace Wulff was born on September 7, 1928 to Hugo and Laura (Krapp) Wulff in Madison, SD.  She graduated from Madison High School and went on to work at the K & K Grocery Store and Lake County Courthouse Treasurer’s office.  Grace said she’d never marry a farmer, but after a year of dating, she married Eugene Anderson on December 15, 1948 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale.  She worked beside her husband on the family farm, doing everything that was needed from raising chickens to running the silage cutter.  Grace was an amazing seamstress, making her children’s clothes from toddlers to wedding gowns.  She also was an incredible baker with her specialty of bread and sweet buns.  Her fried chicken Sunday dinner gatherings with family, were always a blessing to attend.  She also enjoyed bowling, counted cross-stitch and gardening. Grace spent 20 years at the dining room table designing her dream home.  Grace and Gene enjoyed travel for many years with friends and family.

Grace was a woman of great strength and a devoted member of Ramsey Baptist Church. She served as church treasurer for many years and was a member of the church lady’s aid.  Faith and church community were very important to Grace.  She was a quiet servant of the Lord leaving a legacy for generations to come.

Grace is survived by: her children, Karen (Dean) Parker of The Villages, FL, Pat (Dick) Turner of Brookings, SD, Deb (Kevin) Weber of Cary, IL and Jeff (Marcia) Anderson of Salem, SD; grandchildren, Amy Jo (Jeff) Neeley, Michael (Alisa) Parker, Kari (Todd) Jakowitsch, Steve (Tiffany) Weber, Zach (Maggie) Anderson, Kyrsten (Jon) Aus, Erik (Chelsea) Anderson, and Brock Anderson; 19 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way; sister, Judy Dedrickson, sister-in-law, LaVonne Mader and sister-in-law, Linda Wulff; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gene and siblings, Margaret Marsh and Jack Wulff.
