Gary L. Anderson, age 81, of the quiet town of Carthage, SD, passed away peacefully at the Howard Good Samaritan Society care facility on January 27, 2026.

Gary lived out his last few months of life after succumbing to health challenges that were too much for his body to bear.

Gary was predeceased by his parents, Wesley and Evelyn Anderson; brother, Allen Anderson; sister-in-law, Gloria Anderson; and brother-in-law, Donald Sengstock.

He is survived by his brother, Dean (Bonnie) Anderson; sister, Sheryl (Sengstock) Anderson; nieces; nephew; great-nieces; long-time friends; and best friend, Dick Henn, who stood by his side unwaveringly through the best and worst times of his life over the past several years.

Gary had big dreams of becoming a supersonic Navy jet plane fighter when he graduated from high school in 1962, yet lived a very private, quiet life.

He left this world with a longing to someday see solidarity in the world.

Memorials in Gary’s memory can be sent to the Willoughby Funeral Home. Prayers are also warmly welcomed for Gary to live out the rest of his life in the loving arms of our Lord and Creator, where pain does not exist.
