The Dakota State University Women’s basketball team extended their winning streak to nine games over the weekend, and avenged a pair of losses from earlier this season.
The Trojans topped Rocky Mountain 69-62 on Friday, and then blew out Carroll 70-34 on Saturday at the DSU Fieldhouse.
After losing by three points to Rocky Mountain earlier this year, DSU held off the Bears on Friday, and kept a two game lead in the Frontier Conference Standings. The Trojans outscored the Bears 39-28 in the first half, and maintained the lead through the rest of the game.
Tabor Teel Scored 17 points with 18 rebounds in Friday’s win. Bria Wasmund added 14 points, and Cierra Watkins 13.
On Saturday, DSU avenged another loss by defeating Carroll College by over thirty points. The Trojans jumped out to a 22-9 lead after the first quarter. They held Carroll to just 22-percent shooting, and forced 20 turnovers.
Wasmund scored a game high 16 points. Teel added another double-double with 10 points and 13 boards.
The Trojan women 21-3 overall this season, and 16-2 in the Frontier.

The DSU Men lost both games of their weekend series, falling to Rocky Mountain 60-58, and Carroll 83-76.
After falling to the Bears by three points earlier in the season, the Trojans rally on Friday came up two points short. Rocky Mountain hit 8-of-16 three point attempts in the game, and made their free throws in the final minute to hold off DSU.
Lukas Morgan scored a game high 18 points for the Trojans in the loss. Nathan Ojukwu had 11 points and 12 rebounds.
On Saturday, Carroll rallied from a halftime deficit to defeat DSU. The Trojans were up seven at halftime, but were outscored 50-36 in the 2nd half.
Morgan had 21 points in Saturday’s loss. Nolan Segner added 12, as the Trojan men fell to 16-7 on the season, and 11-7 in the Frontier.
The DSU men and women will head back to Montana this weekend, taking on Montana Western on Friday, and Montana Tech on Saturday. DSU will then return home February 20th and 21st for their final regular season games of the year.
