Baseball season is here. At least, it is for Dakota State University. The Trojans opened their 2026 season over the weekend, at the Cajun Collision in Sterlington Louisiana.

DSU finished the weekend with a 2-2 record. They defeated Louisiana Christian 5-4 in the season opener on Friday, then took a 21-10 loss to LSU-Alexandria. Saturday the Trojans picked up a 2-1 win over Park Missouri, then fell to the No. 1 team in the NAIA, LSU-Shreveport, 11-1.

Ryland Carroll tossed a complete game in the 7-inning win over Park. The freshman from Brandon struck out 10 hitters in his first ever Collegiate start. Senior Cameron DeMaria had three mulit-hit games to start the year. DeMaria went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI in the win over Louisiana Christian. He was 3-for-3 with 2 RBI against Alexandria, and 2-for-3 with the game-winning RBI against Park.

Carroll and DeMaria were named the Frontier Conference pitcher and hitter of the week respectively.

The Trojans will play four more games in Missouri this weekend for the Eagle Invitational.
