The Madison boys picked up their 2nd road win of the season on Tuesday, holding off McCook Central/Montrose 69-56. Madison led nearly the entire game, but the Fighting Cougars never let the Bulldogs gain much separation.
Madison jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead, and led by 15 midway through the 2nd quarter. MCM quickly cut that lead down to 8 by halftime, and down to 2 points early in the third quarter.
The Bulldogs offense struggled in the 3rd quarter, with the exception of Henry Veenhof, who kept Madison in front with a 23 point performance. Nolan Neilsen scored on a pair of put-back’s late in the game, and Brody Cummins hit a three with a minute to go to seal the win. Madison also hit all 11 of their free throws in the 2nd half.
Shane Veenhof had 11 points, and 3 of Madison’s 13 steals. Myles Schneider added 10 points, and Cummins 9. Madison scored 28 points off turnovers, and shot 7-of-24 from the three point line.
The Bulldogs improved to 9-6, while MCM fell to 11-5.
Madison will host undefeated West Central this Friday night.
