Madison Bulldogs Softball came out swinging and never looked back in a commanding 9-3 win over Dakota Valley on Monday.
Madison jumped on the board early in the first inning with smart, aggressive play, then blew things open in the third behind clutch hitting from Kelsey Dudley. Dudley led the charge both at the plate and on the mound, driving in three runs while also earning the win with five strong innings, striking out seven and allowing just one earned run.
Mara Klingbile and Dudley paced the offense with multiple hits, while the Bulldogs’ defense added a double play to keep momentum firmly on their side.
Dakota Valley showed some fight with multiple hitters recording two hits, but couldn’t keep up with Madison’s all-around performance.
The Bulldogs look to keep the momentum rolling as they face Castlewood next.
On the other hand, the baseball team dominated from start to finish in a 13-0 shutout win over Elkton-Lake Benton on Monday, powered by a lights-out performance from Cohen Hahn.
Hahn was nearly untouchable on the mound, striking out 10 while allowing just two hits over five scoreless innings. At the plate, Madison stayed patient and relentless, drawing 15 walks and capitalizing on every opportunity to build a big lead early.
The Bulldogs used aggressive baserunning and flawless defense to keep the pressure on. A five-run fifth inning sealed the blowout.
Madison now turns its focus to Sioux Valley as they look to keep the momentum rolling.
