Chester Flyers Softball staged an impressive comeback to defeat Mount Vernon/Plankinton 10–5 on April 23. After falling behind 5–1 in the third inning, Chester responded in a big way, highlighted by a five-run fourth inning that completely shifted momentum. Jacy Wolf delivered the key moment of the game with a three-run home run to center as part of a four-RBI performance.
Mount Vernon/Plankinton had taken control early, using an error to score in the second inning and then breaking things open in the third with a three-run home run by Madalynn Lorang, followed by a passed ball to extend the lead. However, Chester capitalized on defensive mistakes and patient hitting, drawing six walks and taking advantage of opportunities throughout the game.
Kennedy Alverson earned the win in the circle, pitching five innings while allowing five runs (three earned) and striking out six. Lizzie Peterson helped lead the offense with two hits from the bottom of the lineup, while Alyssa Schut contributed by drawing three walks. Lorang paced Mount Vernon/Plankinton with three RBIs in the loss.
Chester will look to carry the momentum into its next matchup on the road against Wagner.
