During Monday’s Madison City Commission meeting, city officials held another public discussion about the potential Digital currency mining facility being planned by Giga Energy.

The 10 megawatt facility is proposed for a section of city owned land, just north of highway 34, near Buffalo Ridge Concrete and the city’s generating plant.

The city has already approved a Large Load Electric Rate that would apply to the facility, and a conditional use permit and variance. Some of the conditions include sound barriers, and limits on lighting and security cameras.

During Monday’s discussion, commissioners were asked what would happen if the company decides to leave. Commissioner Dan Burresh said the city would be out nothing if that happened.
