Residents making online credit card payments to the City of Madison will notice an added security step beginning this Monday, June 15.

The City announced that all credit card payments made through its online payment portal will require customers to enter the billing ZIP code associated with the credit card being used.

City officials say the billing ZIP code entered during checkout must match the ZIP code on file with the card issuer. Payments submitted with an incorrect ZIP code may be declined.

According to the City, the new requirement is intended to enhance security, help protect customers, and reduce fraudulent payment activity.

Anyone who experiences problems making an online payment is encouraged to contact the City Finance Office at (605) 256-7500 for assistance.
