Madison’s annual community fireworks celebration has been rescheduled and will now take place on Sunday, July 5, organizers have announced.

Although the event has been pushed back one day, organizers say the focus remains the same: bringing families together to celebrate Independence Day with a hometown fireworks display.

“We’re proud to keep this tradition local,” organizers said in a statement, also recognizing Landon with SkywardClimb for continuing to help bring the fireworks display to life.

Organizers said Historic Prairie Village played a key role in ensuring the celebration could remain in Madison, adding that the annual event would not have been possible without the organization’s support.

This year’s celebration also coincides with the nation’s 250th anniversary, and organizers expressed appreciation to the sponsors, donors and community members whose support helped bring the fireworks display back to the community.

Just over a week ago it seemed there would be no display for the community, after the chamber of commerce announced they would not hold the event for the first time in decades. Just days later, a group formed by Delon Mork and Brandon Burg began fundraising for the event. 

The Madison fireworks show is scheduled for Sunday, July 5, at Historic Prairie Village, starting at 10pm.
