The Madison Bulldogs fell to #1 Sioux Falls Christian 27-7 Friday night.

The Chargers took an early lead when Jude Prins returned a Madison punt 42 yards for a touchdown with 7:24 left in the first quarter.

Madison then launched their longest drive of the season, covering 70 yards on 24 plays, and tied the game when Henry Veenhof scored on a one-yard quarterback keeper. The Bulldogs covered twice on 4th down during the drive, that took nearly nine minutes off the clock.

Sioux Falls Christian looked to drive for a score on their next drive, but fumbled the ball at the one yard line. The Chargers still found a way to score, recording a safety two plays later. They added a 25-yard field goal from Jason Koenes to take a 12-7 lead into halftime.

The Bulldogs moved they ball in the 2nd half, but couldn’t find the endzone late in drives. The Chargers added two more TD’s, scoring on a four-yard run and a 12-yad pass, both from Prins.

Veenhof led Madison on the ground with 57 yards on 22 carries and completed 15 of 22 passes for 62 yards. Tucker King added 45 rushing yards on 14 carries.

Luke Johnson led Madison receivers with four catches for 27 yards. Kaysen Gust had three catches for 21 yards and also intercepted a pass.

Sioux Falls Christian finished with 329 yards of total offense, compared to 196 for Madison. The Chargers rushed for 144 yards and threw for 185.

Madison falls to 4-2 with the loss, while the Chargers stay unbeaten at 6-0.

Sioux Falls takes on Vermillion this week, while the Bulldogs travel to Hartford to play West Central. That game begins at 7pm, on AM 1390 and AmazingMadison.com
