The Madison Central School Board approved a four year continuation of the property tax opt out that the district has had in place for several years. The opt out is in the amount of up to two-hundred and fifty-thousand dollars, and is for 2026 taxes payable in 2027.

Business Manager Mittchel Brooks said that, based on this year’s valuations, that equates to around 15-cents per thousand, or fifty-one dollars on a three-hundred thousand dollar house. 

Brooks added that most years the district has not taken the full amount. Board President Steve Nelson said the opt out acts as a cushion for the district budget.
