Dakota State University is partnering with IBM Quantum to bring a global quantum computing education event to Madison next month.
DSU will host Qiskit Fall Fest 2026 on Wednesday, November 18th, at the Beacom Institute of Technology. The event will introduce participants to the emerging field of quantum computing through expert presentations and hands-on learning opportunities.
The event offers Madison-area residents, students and technology enthusiasts an opportunity to get a firsthand look at a developing technology that could play an increasingly important role in computing and cybersecurity.
An IBM Quantum keynote speaker will lead an introductory lecture. Two hands-on workshops will follow. A second workshop will feature an interactive board game demonstrating how quantum technology can be used in cybersecurity, specifically through Quantum Key Distribution.
The event is being coordinated by Dr. Mariam Gado, an assistant professor in DSU’s Beacom College of Computer and Cyber Sciences. Gado holds both a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in quantum computing and has continued expanding her expertise through specialized training and IBM quantum education programs.
Those with questions can contact Dr. Gado at Mariam.Gado@dsu.edu, using “IBM Fall Fest 2026” as the email subject.
