The Madison City commission has only two business items on their agenda for today’s meeting, but one of them has dominated discussion in the city for the past several weeks.

The city will again today consider the first reading of an ordinance to rezone block one of Ash Hill Addition from Highway Business to Light Manufacturing. If approved, the rezoning would be one of the first steps needed to bring a data mining facility to Madison.

City leaders considered the ordinance at their last meeting in January, but tabled it for two weeks after a lengthy public hearing. This past Wednesday, the city held a Town Hall on the topic as well.

Today’s City Commission meeting begins at noon, and in the Commission room at Madison City Hall.
