Dakota State men’s and women’s basketball swept double header in North Dakota over the weekend. Both teams defeated Valley City State on Friday, and Mayville State on Saturday.
The Trojan men rolled to an 84-60 win over Valley City. Brayden Pankonen and Lukas Morgan each had 19 points for DSU. Morgan added 13 rebounds and 5 assists as well. Dakota State held the Vikings to just 33-percent shooting in the win.
Saturday, Morgan and Nathan Ojukwu each put up 26 points, and the Trojans defeated Mayville 81-70. Pankonen added 10 points, as DSU swept the season series from both teams.
The Trojan men are now 16-5 on the year, and 11-5 in the Frontier Conference.
DSU’s women’s team started the weekend with a 71-60 win over Valley City State. Trailing by four at halftime, the Trojans outscored the Vikings 20-11 in the 3rd quarter to take the lead for good. Tabor Teel finished with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Caitlin Dyer added 13 points and Bria Wasmund 11.
Saturday DSU dominated Mayville State 83-55. Teel had 17 points to lead four players in double figures. Dyer and Ella Carstensen each scored 16, while Wasmund finished with 6 points and 6 of the Trojans 21 steals.
The No. 7 ranked Trojans improved to 19-3 on the season.
Both Trojan teams will host Rocky Mountain on Friday, and Carroll College on Saturday at the Fieldhouse in Madison.
