The first petition for a public office in Lake County has been turned into the county auditors office. Current Register of Deeds Shirley Ebsen has filed a republican petition for re-election. 

In addition to county offices, all three District 8 seats in the state legislature are up for election this November. So far, only one person has said they are running in for a seat in the district. 

Danny Brown of Madison announced two weeks ago his intention to run for one of two District 8 House seats. 

District 8 is currently represented by House members Tim Walburg and Tim Reisch.

State senator Casey Crabtree is running for the Republican nomination for South Dakota’s only U.S. House seat.
