Hermon Jermiah entered a guilty plea to the charge on Monday, as part of an agreement in which a charge of kidnapping was dismissed. The agreement also included that the State would recommend suspended execution of sentence.
According to Lake County States Attorney Aaron McGowan, on June 25th of 2025, Jermiah picked up a 13 year old girl in Madison near her residence. The girl and Jermiah had communicated on Snapchat. McGowan said the girl told Jermiah that she was older than 13.
Jermiah drove to Madison from Sioux Falls, picked up the victim at approximately 3am, and drove her back to his residence in Sioux Falls.
Circuit Judge Patrick Pardy sentenced Jermiah to 3 years in the state penitentiary, and suspended that time based on a number of conditions, including that he have no contact with any female juvenile he is not related to.
Jermiah is also facing a rape charge in Minnehaha county from the same incident.
