The South Dakota Department of Public Safety announced this weekend the immediate closure of several driver’s license exam stations, including the one in Madison. The stations in Webster and Milbank will also be closed, beginning today.
According to the Department of Public Safety, the closures are due to staffing shortages.
Online renewal and duplicate requests for driver’s licenses and ID cards continue to be available online.
Appointments for in-person exams can be made online as well. The SDDPS website currently shows the first available appointment for the Brookings exam site is not until April 1st. The Mitchell station has times available in late March, while the two Sioux Falls locations are booked until April.
The Department of Public Safety says the closing of the Madison office is in effect until further notice.
