The Madison boys basketball season ended on Tuesday, with a one point loss to the Dell Rapids Quarriers.
Playing at home in the opening round of the Region 3A tournament, the Bulldogs took an early 12-9 lead after the 1st quarter. The lead would change hands six total times in the game, with Dell Rapids finding themselves up by seven points in the closing minutes.
Ethan Sims hit back-to-back 3’s for the Bulldogs, followed by a Myles Schneider 3-pointer, that brought Madison back to within a point. A steal from Shane Veenhof with 20 seconds left gave the Bulldogs a chance for the win. But, Henry Veenhof’s potential game-winner missed at the buzzer, sending Dell Rapids to the semifinals.
Camden Jones’ 24-points ledDell Rapids, with Lincoln Anderson adding 12 points.
Shane Veenhof finished with 18 points and two steals, Henry Veenhof added 17 points and six rebounds, and Ethan Sims scored 13.
Madison coach Chad White said after the game that he will miss the six seniors in this years class.
Dell Rapids will take on undefeated West Central on Friday.
