The Deadwood Fund, Spring 2026 grants and matching funds have been awarded by the South Dakota State Historical Society.

These grants are awarded from the Deadwood Fund program, which is funded exclusively by a portion of the gaming revenue from the City of Deadwood for the administration of historic preservation projects, as required by state law. The grant program promotes the rehabilitation and restoration of historic properties across South Dakota.

Madison received a $10,000 grant for a roof repair project to the Smith House, a historic house located at 519. N. Lee Ave. The home was built in 1891-92, and is on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Deadwood Fund Grant program awards projects annually with two application deadlines – February 1st and October 1st.
