The Madison High School Softball team opened up the 2026 season with a pair of wins in Sioux City on Saturday. The Bulldogs out slugged West Central 17-15, the ran away from Deuel 21-5.

Paislee Cooney hit a pair of homeruns in the win over the Trojans. Addison Voss and Jayna Pedersen added home runs as well. Cooney drove in 4 runs, and Pederson 3. Mara Klingbile added 4 hits and 4 RBI.

Maddy Kunzweiler had 7 RBI in the loss for West Central.

Against Deuel, the Bulldogs exploded for 8 runs in the first inning. They tacked on 9 more in the 4th to win on a 15-run rule.

Evie Lurz 2 hits and 4 RBI to lead the Bulldogs. Aubir Tobkin scored 3 times and drove in a pair. Kelcie Dudley picked up the win, allowing 4 earned runs while striking out 8 over 4 innings.

The 2-0 Bulldogs will take on Tri-Valley this Thursday, weather permitting.
