The City of Madison is getting residents ready for construction season. In a press release on Thursday, the city said that construction on Egan Avenue will continue into the next phase beginning this coming Monday, April 6th. There will be several visible updates for residents and travelers in the area.
Traffic control measures will be implemented starting April 6th, including additional cones for lane closures and a designated pedestrian detour route around active work zones. A full roadway closure is not expected at this time, but traffic patterns may shift as work progresses.
Concrete work will begin on the separated sidewalk along the corridor, improving pedestrian access and connectivity. Ramp installation will follow once ground conditions allow. Retaining wall construction is also scheduled to begin near Ellsworth Funeral Home on April 6th.
Once frost conditions clear, crews will begin intersection pavement and lane work. Landscaping preparation will also begin, including grading and topsoil placement, with planting to follow.
Additionally, tree removals are scheduled to take place between April 6th and April 10th as part of the ongoing project work.
Egan ave. construction began last year, and is expected to conclude this fall.
