The Madison planning commission considered a conditional use and a variance request from Giga Project 19 Madison LLC., the company looking to build a modular data center in Madison.
Giga Energy, a Houston, Texas based company, manufactures modular data center units. They have been working with Heartland Energy to develop the project.
Giga manufactures and operates the equipment, which is then leased by other companies.
Casey Crabtree from Heartland talked about the electric rate for the center, and how it would affect the community of Madison.
A number of questions were raised by members of the public, but Planning Commissioner Jim Iverson said much of what was discussed did not fall under the discretion of the commission.
The Planning Commission, acting as a Board of Adjustment, tabled the issue to another meeting.
