On Monday, the Madison City Commission approved the 1st reading of an ordinance that adds a Large Load Electric Rate to the city utility rates. The ordinance is the latest in a series of steps taken by the city that would allow, and establish parameters for a data center in the city.
City Administrator Jameson Berreth gave an overview of the ordinance.
The ordinance was approved by the commission on a 3-0 vote, with commissioner Kelly Dybdahl abstaining.
A 2nd reading will be held at an upcoming meeting.
