The Madison City Commission agreed with the Planning Commission on Monday, and denied a request to rezone a parcel of land on North East 3rd street.
The request was made by the owners of the former River of Life Church. The building no longer operates as a church, and the current owners were requesting that the property be rezoned from R-60 Duplex Residence to General Business.
Mayor Roy Lindsay said the city would like to see more concrete plans before considering a rezone.
The ordinance was defeated on a 3-1 vote.
