Colman-Egan High School senior Preston Meyer has been named Student of the Month by Heartland Energy and KJAM Radio.
Preston is a well-rounded student who exemplifies leadership. He is known for his dedication, creativity, and commitment to making his school a better place.
Throughout high school, Meyer has competed in football, wrestling, track and field, and golf. He was a three-time recipient of the Unsung Hero Award in football and also earned honorable mention in conference wrestling. He also has a strong passion for the arts. Meyer is president of the school’s Fine Arts Club—which he created as his senior project—and participates in Art Wars and oral interp. His work has earned recognition, including an honorable mention in digital photography. He also enjoys drawing, painting, reading and writing. He also participates in the CEHS Leadership Committee.
Meyer plans to attend Dakota State University where he is a Champion Scholar and DSU Merit Scholarship recipient due to his strong classroom performance. He plans to study cyber operations and business. His goal is to work in cybersecurity or start his own business in the field.
Meyer is the son of Chris and Taya Meyer.
Student of the Month is awarded through a partnership of Heartland Energy and KJAM Radio in Madison. It recognizes outstanding students from five area communities to which Heartland provides wholesale power and are in KJAM’s listening area: Arlington, Colman, Howard, Madison and Volga. School officials nominate students for the award.
