A Madison boy has been named the Sanford International’s 2026 Sanford Children’s Hospital Ambassador.

10-year old Owen Ragsdale will represent the Sanford Children’s Hospital at tournament events throughout the year.

The Sanford International, a PGA TOUR Champions event, will take place at Minnehaha Country Club in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, from September 7-13, with a $2.2 million purse.

Owen has been undergoing treatment for a rare hip disorder that results from a temporary loss of blood supply to the femoral head, leading to bone death and collapse, since 2023.

He was in a wheelchair from 2023 to 2024 and had surgery on his leg and hip last April.

As this year’s Ambassador, Ragsdale will play a key role during Tournament Week by interviewing players and being a visible presence at important events.

Ragsdale will also hit the ceremonial opening tee shot to kick off the tournament on Friday, September 11.

He is the tenth Sanford Children’s Hospital Ambassador. A list that also includes Ben Wieman of Madison, in 2020.
