Moody County first responders were dispatched to a report of a residential structure fire in Egan on Monday night. The call came in at approximately 10:45pm.
The Flandreau Fire Department, Colman fire department, Trent fire department, and the Moody County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. Upon arrival, the deputies and first responders confirmed the residence was fully involved. As well as two vehicles in the front of the residence.
There were three occupants in the residence along with a dog. Two victims had minor injuries and one patient had serious injuries. The dog did not survive the fire.
At this time, a damage estimate is not available. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Moody County Sheriff’s Office is asking the community to stay away from the scene as there are multiple hazards around the area.
Fire crews remained on scene for approximately six and a half hours.
Agencies responding to the incident included Flandreau Fire Department, Colman Fire Department, Trent Fire Department, Flandreau EMS, Moody County Sheriff’s Office, and the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
