The Greater Madison Area Chamber of Commerce has announced it will not host the 4th of July fireworks show this year due to rising costs.

In a Facebook post, officials say the decision was not easy, but necessary.

The post said in part, “after operating at a financial loss for several years and facing continued increases in the cost of fireworks and event production, the event is no longer financially sustainable.”

The post went on to say, “we remain committed to investing our time and resources into events and initiatives that bring people together, attract visitors to Madison, support our local businesses, and strengthen our community.”

Madison officials are compiling a list of public fireworks shows in the area and say they will share it when it becomes available.
