Catherine Ann Pansegrau was born October 3, 1955 in Parkston, SD to Gus and Bonnie (Simek) Pansegrau. She attended school in Parkston and then went on to further her education at Nettleton Business School in Sioux Falls. Cathy startedbdating Gary when she was 14 after meeting through his sister. They had many fun adventures before they were united in marriage on June 22, 1974. Gary quickly went to work building a house for them in Dimock, and through the years they were blessed with three children; Eric, Heather and Ann. Even through life’s ups and downs, Cathy and Gary remained devoted to one another and had a true sweetheart story.
Cathy enjoyed spending time with family and friends. You would often find her cheering on her grandkids at their events. Cathy was a caregiver and spent many years raising her children and going on Sunday car rides with Gary. She worked from home doing bookkeeping jobs and selling her handmade crafts before purchasing The Little Red Hen in 2000. Even after closing her storefront in 2021, she continued to spend time at her sewing machine making treasured gifts. In her free time, she enjoyed many crafting hobbies, spoiling her grandkids, and spending time with her book club friends.
Cathy worked hard and enjoyed life to the fullest and fought her cancer until the very last minute. Cathy was fearless and never complained about her cancer. Her optimism is something she will be remembered for. Cathy’s creativity will live long through her daughters and grandchildren.
Cathy is survived by: her dogs, Shep, Jazzy and Ruby; her children, Heather (Mike) Herman of Sioux Falls and Ann (Brandon) Jacobsen of Canistota; grandchildren, Mylie Weber, Ryker Herman, Bridger Herman, Hendrix Herman, Evelyn Herman, Hazel Herman, Ty Jacobsen, and Wes Jacobsen; brother, Mike (Deb) Pansegrau of Iowa; sister, Tricia (Kent) Thompson of IL; brother-in-law, Ron Weber of Canton; sisters-in-law, Deb Flanders of Apple Valley, MN and Linda Lynch of Hartford; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary; parents, Gus and Bonnie; son, Eric; sister-in-law, Jan McCoy; and infant brother, David.
