JD Reinicke, age 37 of Madison passed away suddenly at his home on Monday, August 10, 2026.
Funeral services will be at 10:30am on Saturday, August 15th at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Peggy Hanson officiating. Visitation will be 5-8pm on Friday at Rustand-Weiland Funeral Chapel and will continue on Saturday one hour prior to the services at the church. Immediately following the service burial will be at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Badus Township, with Military honors provided by the Madison VFW & Madison Legion.

James Dean Reinicke was born November 12th 1988 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the son of Gary & Debra (Stearns) Reinicke. In 2006, after his junior year of high school, he joined the National Guard and completed basic training. He graduated from Madison High School in 2007 and went on to attend AIT. JD proudly served one tour in Afghanistan and was honorably discharged after fulfilling his six-year contract.
Many in the community knew JD through his work with the family business, Reinicke Construction. For 25 years, he hauled dirt and gravel, dug footings and basements, performed building demolitions, operated and repaired equipment, and tackled countless other tasks. JD loved his work deeply and never considered it just a job.
JD’s hobbies included bowling, hunting and fishing, and riding motorcycle. He was also a volunteer on the Dell Rapids Fire Dept, a member of the American Legion Riders-Chapter 25, and a previous Lake ABATE member.
JD is survived by his parents, Gary (Debra) Reinicke of Madison; sister, Traci Reinicke (Josh Maag) of Madison; nephew, Donavon Brady; grandmother, Jane McAthie of Madison. He is also lovingly remembered by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as his special fur companions, Stella and Reba.
JD was preceded in death by his grandparents, James & Adelyne Stearns, Dean & Rose Reinicke and James McAthie and his loyal dog companion, Lexus.
