The Madison Regional Health Foundation has announced Austin Reuter of Crooks, South Dakota, as the recipient of the 2026-2027 Doris Garwood Pharmacy Scholarship.

Reuter will receive a $1,000 scholarship to support his education at South Dakota State University, where he is beginning the four-year professional pharmacy program.

Reuter says his interest in pharmacy grew through family and friends in the profession, but working in a pharmacy and interacting with patients confirmed that he wanted to pursue pharmacy as a career.

He currently works at Lewis Pharmacy in Sioux Falls and hopes to continue his career there after graduation.

The Doris Garwood Pharmacy Scholarship has been awarded annually since 1989. It was established by Wendell Garwood in memory of his wife, Doris, and supports students from the Madison area pursuing careers in pharmacy.
