ick Lee Becker, 59, of Madison passed away August 26, 2026, due to natural causes.
Funeral services will be at 11 AM on Monday, August 31st at the Madison First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Mark Werner officiating. Visitation will be 3-6 PM on Sunday, August 30th at Rustand-Weiland Funeral Chapel and will continue on Monday one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Prairie Queen Cemetery, Nunda.

Rick was born on January 28, 1967 to Kenneth and Karen (Crosby) Becker in Madison, SD. He graduated from Madison High School in 1985. Then graduated from Pipestone Technical College in 1987 receiving a degree in Ag Banking. He traveled to Iowa and earned his auctioneering license from Worldwide College of Auctioneering in 1988.
Rick worked at Spies Super Value for many years before taking on the role of Director of Equitation for Lake County for over 25 years, all while continuing his auctioneering role. He worked alongside Wayne Bessman, Chuck and Jared Sutton, and Chip Wosje. Rick also spent countless hours donating his time and talent for numerous organizations such as Pro Pheasants, The Rocky Mountain Elks Foundation, Prairie Village, along with multiple others.
Rick’s loved spending time outdoors. You could find him hunting, fishing, trapping or snowmobiling. He also was a member of local trap shooting teams for many years. Spending time at the Annual Prairie Village Jamboree was also a favorite of his.
Above all, Rick’s pride and joy were his nieces and nephews. If he was unable to make their event, he made sure to call to hear all about it. He was first to take a trip, loan out hunting and fishing gear, or take a drive to scout deer. No matter the score at the end of a game, Rick always said, “You did pretty good.” And you could be sure he would stop and talk about how the cows or crops were doing.
Rick is survived by his mother, Karen, Madison, SD; a sister Rae Lynn (Philip) Maher, Nunda, SD; Troy (Barb) Becker, White Lake, SD; six nephews Mitchell (Kimberly) Maher, Robert (Lexie) Maher, Brady (Morgan) Maher, Justin (Addison) Becker, Ky (Kyanna) Becker and Ryden Becker (special friend – Shulamith); niece Christina (Tyler) Bruder; 6 great nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins. Special extended families: Jerry (Sue) Bergheim family and his auctioneer family.
Rick was preceded in death by father Kenneth Becker and his grandparents Harm and Leona Becker and Galen and Eunice Crosby.
