Madison Regional Health System is welcoming a new physician to its medical team.

Dr. Colter Cashion specializes in family medicine and obstetrics, with a focus on rural healthcare, women’s health and improving access to care for families in the region.

Cashion says every family should have access to advanced medical care close to home.

He has a particular interest in maternity care and says he wants to make sure both mothers and babies receive personalized care and that patients feel heard throughout the process.

Cashion is originally from Somerville, Texas. Before medical school, he worked as a paramedic in a busy 9-1-1 service, an experience that helped shape his commitment to patient advocacy.

He earned his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine, completed his residency at Lynchburg Family Medicine Residency, and completed a surgical obstetrics fellowship through Cone Health.

Dr. Cashion will begin seeing patients at Madison Regional Health System this month.
