With spring now just a little over a month away, it won’t be long until the warmer weather brings with it the return of migratory birds to the prairie. Bird lovers can get a head start right now though, with a new exhibit at the First Bank & Trust Gallery on the DSU campus. A multi-artist exhibition, titled “Bird Call”, is on display now through March 20th.

Many of the artists participating in this exhibition are DSU faculty members. The artists’ works on display aim to interpret birds, their calls, and the way these signals register within human experience.

This exhibit examines avian presence through ecological reality and cultural construct.

Local artists with works on display include Daniel Welynn, Joseph Staudenbaur, Wendy Romero, Stacey Berry, Alan Montgomery, and Thomas Jones of Dakota State University. As well as Nevayah Jordan, Cante Jordan, and Ginny Frietag of Madison.

The First Bank & Trust Gallery is located in the Karl Mundt Library on DSU’s campus. It is open to the public during regular library hours.
