The Madison City Commission approved the second reading of Ordinance No. 1685 on Tuesday. The zoning ordinance changes a parcel of city owned land near highway 34 from Highway Business to Light Manufacturing. The rezoning would allow for the possibility of a data center to eventually be built on that property. 

After the ordinance was approved, City Engineer Ryan Hegg laid out the next steps that would have to be taken, should a company want to open a data center in Madison. 

Hegg said the planning commission can also place a number of conditions on an application. 

Also Tuesday, the commission approved a temporary retail alcohol license for the Madison Baseball Associations Bingo Night, at the City Armory on March 7th.
