Dawn Hoeke, the current Superintendent of the Oldham-Ramona-Rutland school district, will soon take over as principal of O’Gorman High School in Sioux Falls. Hoeke, who has been with the ORR district for nearly three years, submitted her resignation on February 9th. 

Hoeke was brought in to oversee the newly merged district, and lead the construction of a new school. But, that process has been filled with division and legal challenges, as well as a vote that narrowly avoided dissolving the district.

Now she will take over for Joan Mahoney, who is retiring after 36 years at O’Gorman. 

In a news release, Hoeke said that, “After much prayer and thoughtful discernment, I feel truly led to this moment.” She went on to say that, “I look forward to building meaningful relationships and becoming part of the Bishop’s O’Gorman Catholic Schools family.”

Hoeke’s resignation with ORR is effective June 30th.
