The Dakota State University basketball season came to an end on Monday night, in an 83-69 loss to the two-time defending national champions from Dordt.

The Defenders took the lead on their opening possession, and never gave it back. Dordt outscored DSU 25-11 in the 1st quarter, while holding the Trojans to just 21 percent shooting.

Dordt kept the lead in or near double digits, until the 4th quarter. The Trojans cut the lead down to 67-63, only to see the Defenders score 10 straight points to season the game.

Gracie Schoonhoven led Dordt with 34 points. Macy Sievers and a triple-double, with 24 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists.

Tabor Teel scored 16 points, with 8 rebounds and 6 blocked shots, in her final game as a Trojan. Cierra Watkins added 12 points, Bria Wasmund 11, and Mackenzi Simmons 10.

Dordt will take on Marian (Ind.) tonight for in the National Championship game.

DSU’s season ended with a program record 30 wins, and also set a record for most points in a single season.
