A number of petitions were received by the Lake County Auditors office on Friday. Current County Commissioner Corey Johnke filed his paperwork for re-election. Also turning in republican petitions for County Commission was challenger Dustin Jung. 

Other County Commission candidates include republican Tim Walburg, and democrat Charlie Johnson. 

                           

Also Friday, current County Auditor Paula Barrick filed for re-election. 

A number of petitions have been filed in the past weeks for the District 8 House and Senate races. Current state senator Casey Crabtree will be seeking re-election, while Patricia Shiery of Madison has also filed republican petitions for senate. 

For the two District 8 House seats, current republican candidates include: Danny Brown of Madison, James Sapp of Bruce, Jon Nelson of Lake Preston, Samuel Krueger of Elkton, and Todd Wilkinson of De Smet. 

Today is the filling deadline for the June primary election. Independent candidates have until April 28th. 

Absentee Voting begins on April 17th, the primary election day is June 2nd.
