Jim Hanson was born in Volga, SD on June 15, 1959, to David & Barbara (Chase) Hanson. He graduated from Madison High School and was a Delta Tau Delta at the University of South Dakota. He lived in New York and Chicago before returning to Madison.
He owned the Nunda Bar where he met Julie Ulvestad. They married in 1989 and had two children. Jim loved being a dad – he never missed his kids’ events. One of his fondest memories was coaching Chase’s softball team to a record season in 2008 and winning the State Championship.
Jim found love again with Dana Terwilliger and they married in 2011.
Jim enjoyed watching Vikings football and the NFL draft every year. He was a great cook and a great salesman. Being a grandpa became his greatest joy and just like with his kids, he was at every one of his grandchildren’s events.
Jim is survived by his wife, Dana; son, Chase (Lindsey); daughter, Shelby; grandchildren, Cash, Eden and Mabel; father, David; sister, Merry; brother, Tim (Susie); nephew, George; uncle, Ted (Bonnie) Hanson and his cousins Heidi (Paul), Nathan (Shawna) and Heather (Chris).
