Patrick “Pat” Bernard Mallett, age 56, of Madison, SD, after a courageous battle with cancer, passed away on April 16th, 2026, in Sioux Falls, SD surrounded by his beloved family and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30AM, Friday, April 24, 2026 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Madison. Interment will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5PM to 7PM, Thursday at St. Thomas. A prayer service will begin at 7PM. 

Born on June 7th, 1969, in Aberdeen, SD, Pat was the beloved son of Bernard Jerome Mallett and Jo Ann Mallett (Reed). He was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic Church at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chelsea, SD. Pat also grew up in Chelsea. He attended school in Cresbard School District, graduating high school in 1987. Pat went on to attend Dakota State University in Madison, earning a Bachelor of Science in English for Information Systems in 1993.

Pat entered into marriage on April 5th, 2002, with Teresa (Schwartz) Mallett. To that union, Pat fathered two children, Thomas Patrick and Brookelynn Elizabeth. Pat was later in a loving relationship with Sarah Kearin for the six years preceding his death.

Pat dedicated his life to helping others. He worked at Prostrollo Auto Mall, achieving the position of Ford Service Manager, from October 1993 until his death. Pat also worked as an Emergency Medical Technician at Madison Regional Health System from June 2005 until his death.

Beyond work, Pat found joy in cooking, reading, camping, hunting, cheering on the Los Angeles Dodgers and Dallas Cowboys, watching races, spending time with his many friends, and coaching his children in shooting sports.

Pat is survived by his son, Thomas (Peyton Pulford) Mallett of Madison; his daughter Brookelynn Mallett of Madison; their mother Teresa (Jay Hively) Mallett of Madison; his partner, Sarah Kearin and her sons Riley and Cole Kearin of Madison; his mother, Jo Mallett of Aberdeen; his three siblings Cabrini (David) Chamberlain of Keller, TX, Suzanne Mallett of Watertown, WI, and Sean (Erin) Mallett of Ostego, MN; his nieces and nephews, Cody (Taylor) Chamberlain, Amanda (Aidan Smith) Chamberlain, Michael Chamberlain, Ben Warren, Samantha Warren, Jordin (Jacob) Puppe, Braydon (Chase) Mallett, Josie Knoell, Cooper Mallett, and Ryann Mallett; his great-nephew Lochlan Chamberlain and great-nieces Oakleigh Puppe Landyn Puppe.

Pat was preceded in death by his father Bernard Mallett, his grandparents Harold and Juliana (Schuring) Mallett and Henry and Margaret (Humphrey) Reed; various aunts and uncles; good friend, co-worker, and fellow shooting sports coach Mark Sudenga; and good friend and fellow shooting sports coach Scott Ulwelling.

The many people that knew Pat will remember him for his selflessness, humor, and love for all of those around him. His impact on the lives of others will not be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Madison Regional Health System Ambulance.
