Madison Softball rallied from an early deficit and held on late to defeat Chester 12-10 on Monday.
After falling behind 6-1 by the third inning, Madison responded with a big comeback. The team took control in the fourth inning, capitalizing on a Chester error and a two-run home run by Aubri Tobkin to jump into the lead. Madison later built a five-run advantage by the fifth inning, which proved crucial as Chester made a late push.
Chester started strong, scoring in the first inning and adding four more runs in the third. They continued to battle and narrowed the gap in the seventh inning with a three-run home run, but Madison was able to hold on for the win.
Tobkin had a home run and three RBI. Addison Voss led the team with three hits, and Ella Malone added two hits and two runs scored.
Jacy Wolf led the Flyers with a 3-run homer, and three runs scored.
Madison Softball is now 9-1 on the season. Tuesday’s Bulldog game against Brookings has been cancelled due to cold weather.
Madison will travel to Beresford on Thursday.
