There is no doubt who the best 14U Legion baseball team is after this weekends Class B state Tournament. The Madison Bulldogs allowed only three total hits over three games, as they cruised to the first ever South Dakota Class B 14U Legion title.

Madison opened the tournament with a 14-0 quarterfinal win over the host team Vermillion. Bringham Lindley set the tone for the weekend with a dominate performance on the mound, allowing just one hit and striking out 10 in the five inning win.

Kodi Lawrence and Luke Luvaas each had 3 hits, 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. Lincoln Kratovil drove in 3 as well, and had 2 of Madison’s 10 hits.

In Friday’s semifinals, it was Jackson Molstad who dominated on the mound, allowing just 1 hit and striking out 10. Lawrence had another big day at the plate, with 2 hits and 4 RBI. Bryson Miller drove in 2 and scored twice as well.

In Saturday’s championship game Madison finally allowed some runs, but still won easily, 12-2. Kratovil picked up the win, allowing 2 runs on 1 hit and 7 walks. Miller pitched the final two shutout innings, and finished with 2 RBI at the plate. Beau Nelson scored twice and drove in 2, while River Hyland added 3 hits and 2 runs.

Lawrence won the tournaments “Big Stick” award, and Molstad was named the MVP.

Madison played six playoff games this season, and won all six by a combined score of 71-3.
