Howard High School senior Ellie Connor has been named the September Student of the Month by Heartland Energy and KJAM Radio.
Connor is a top student at Howard High School, consistently earning a spot on the A-Honor Roll. She is also a member of National Honor Society and has been involved in a wide variety of school activities and is a four-year member of Student Council and mentors younger students through the Teens as Teachers program. She is also active in FCCLA and earned a Silver Medal at the National Leadership STAR event in 2025.
As a two-sport athlete, Ellie has earned varsity letters in both volleyball and softball. She has also been involved in theater for four years, performing in the school’s all-school and one-act plays and earned Regional Superior One Act Actor recognition and received a Superior rating at the State One Act competition in 2025.
Ellie’s activities extend beyond school. She is an active 4-H member, participating in performing arts, shooting sports, swine showing, fashion revue, public presentations and other projects.
Connor also manages her own cattle herd and operates her own baking business, Endearing Confections. She works part-time at 6C’s Tastee Treat and volunteers in the community through Hearts and Hammers, teaches Sunday School and serves as a lector at her church.
Ellie is the daughter of Matt and Catherine Connor. After graduation, she plans to study business or engineering at a university and hopes to travel as much as possible.
The Student of the Month program is a partnership between Heartland Energy and KJAM Radio. The program recognizes exceptional students from Howard, Madison, Arlington, Colman and Volga.
