Celeste Marie Sabers, a woman of remarkable intelligence, sharp wit, and an amazing voice, passed away on April 12th at the University of Washington Medical Center, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly.
Born on April 24, 1968 in Salem, South Dakota, to Keith and Janey Sabers, Celeste grew up with a determined spirit. After earning her degree in accounting from the University of South Dakota, she took a leap of faith in January 1991, bravely loading up her car and trading the Midwest plains for the Pacific Northwest. She fell in love with Seattle instantly, embracing its mild winters and becoming a devoted fan of Seattle sports, even eventually her beloved Seahawks.
Celeste’s sharp mind led to a successful career. After being hired on the spot during her second interview at a local property management firm, she went on to serve as the Head of Accounting for the Northwest Center and as an accountant for the Woodland Park Zoo.
Though she faced a myriad of health challenges in her later years, Celeste’s passions never wavered. She will be remembered not just for her professional talents, but for her incredible singing voice and the humor she brought to every conversation. Of all her accomplishments, her proudest was being the mother to two incredible children.
She is survived by her partner of 20 years, Mance Webb; her son, Adler Wiskerchen (Bailey); her daughter, Sophia Wiskerchen; her mother, Janey Sabers; her sister, Jennifer (Tait) Lacey and family; and her special uncle, John (Michelle) Nagel. A private celebration of life is being held in Seattle with her family and friends.
Services are being handled by Elemental Cremation and Burial, Seattle, WA.
