The City of Madison and Lake County are inviting residents and property owners to learn more about a proposed Highway 34 bypass project.

A public open house is scheduled for Thursday, October 22nd, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Madison City Hall Commission Chambers at 503 South Highland Avenue.

The open house is part of the early planning process for the proposed bypass. Residents will have an opportunity to talk with project representatives, review preliminary information and ask questions about the project.

Information will be available on the anticipated project area, potential lane configurations, preliminary plans and possible impacts to properties located near the proposed project.

Project representatives will also explain how the project would move through the planning and development process.

Property owners who could be directly affected by the proposed bypass are especially encouraged to attend, although the open house is open to anyone interested in the project.

Officials stress that the project is still in the preliminary stages. Final plans, funding and agency participation have not yet been determined and will depend on future approvals and funding decisions.

Questions about the project can be directed to the Madison City Engineering Department at 605-256-7514.
