District 8 state senator Casey Crabtree, and challenger Clint Hoyer, met Wednesday during the Chamber of Commerce Candidate forum, at Dakota State University.

Crabtree has served in the state senate since being appointed in 2019. He briefly sought the Republican nomination for Congress this year, before dropping out of that race to seek re-election in the district. Hoyer, a Lake County farmer, is running as an independent.

During Wednesday’s forum, the candidates were asked how the legislature should work with local governments. Hoyer said the decisions of local governments should get top priority.
