You may not have ever used their services, but you’ve probably seen their buses. East Dakota Transit has offered safe, reliable, and accessible transportation services to residents in Madison since 1988. But funding issues at the state and national levels are putting the service at risk.

A community meeting last month focused on long-term funding challenges, as well as the rising demand for reliable transportation options across rural communities.

Transit Coordinator Stacy Strickler says they are facing reduced state funds.

East Dakota Transit provides rides to individuals of all ages, from the elderly and disabled, to children.

In order to continue services, East Dakota Transit is asking for the community’s help, and is offering tiers for individual or corporate sponsorships.

Sponsorship levels range from $100 to $5,000.
